Why is compare and merge greyed out in excel




















Now I have to blow it up which is not a desirable method especially when I have made changes that I wanted to save. After I installed "Compare and Merge Workbooks" on the ribbon, however, it is greyed out. I want to Compare two Excel Spreadsheets to highlight the changes that have been made between one and the other.

This is the only thing that I think I have changed since protecting this morning and now I cannot unprotect the sheet. I've lost my menu bar in Excel. But after doing the steps above, the buttons are available on the Quick Access Toolbar instead.

Also i tried to load the "inquire" add-in under COM plugins but its not available. Is there any way to stop a macro from running when it gets hung up and my excel is "Not Responding"?

If you want to unmerge the cell back to its original contents, you can simply click on the merged cell and click on the Merge and Center button again. Therefore, the Merge and Center button lets you do both. You can use it to merge a set of cells into one and you can use the same button to unmerge a merged cell into separate cells. If you look in the Alignment group, you will see the Merge and Center button, along with a dropdown arrow. You might want to use the Merge and Center button to either merge a set of cells or unmerge an already merged set of cells.
